Highlights

NEED ANALYSIS

o    According the last Multisectoral Needs Assessment (August/September 2021) majority of the displaced population lives in inadequate shelters

o    43,498 Cameroonian refugees are pre-registered in 40 sites in Chad (planning figure: 60,000 refugees and host communities), while RRM estimates 36,271 people are internally displaced in Far North Cameroon (planning figure: 40,000 IDPs and host communities). SNFI sector through OCHA advocacy note is asking 1,9 M USD$ to assist 35,000 IDPs with NFI kits, emergency shelters, houses rehabilitation.

 

RESPONSE

o    In 2021, the Shelter/NFI response in the North-West and South-West regions assisted 43% of the total targeted population. Overall, 170,091 people have been assisted, of which 109,744 individuals with shelter kits, 59,967 individuals with non-food items (NFI), and 380 individuals were assisted with transitional shelters.

o    In the Far North region, Shelter/NFI partners assisted only 18% of the planned target. A total of 89,186 individuals were supported, mainly through CRI distributions.

o    With regards to the recent clashes in the Logone Birni, (Far North region) a total of 2,757 NFI kits have been distributed and 185 emergency shelters have been installed, while an additional 1,650 shelters are planned to be installed and 729 housing units are under construction
