Highlights
According to PRMN report, a significant number of 13,331 individuals have been displaced due to the severe consequences of Deyr floods and conflict/insecurity.
This displacement took place in January 2024. The majoirity of those displaced have arrived in Mogadishu, Afmadow, Baardheere, Belet Xaawo, and Doolow.

According to PRMN report, a significant number of 13,331 individuals have been displaced due to the severe consequences of Deyr floods and conflict/insecurity.
This displacement took place in January 2024. The majority of those displaced have arrived in Mogadishu, Afmadow, Baardheere, Belet Xaawo, and Doolow.
Among the top five priority needs reported, shelter emerged as the second most crucial need after food.
Response
In January 2024, the Cluster Partners reached 83,343 people through its response. 12,522 people provided with non-food items (NFI) kits; and 70,821 people assisted with shelter assistance. Baidoa (24,428) received the highest number of beneficiaries, followed by Luuq (23,140), Dolow (9,903), Belet weyne (8,692), Kismaayo (6,442), Jowhar (6,312), Baardheere (3,000), Laascaanood (687), Buuhoodle (413) and Afmadow districts (326).
Gaps / challenges
- Funding is urgently required to respond to the displacement and to pre-position NFI and shelter items for potential displacements in near future.
- Shelter cluster has been underfunded affecting humanitarian shelter response in timely and effective manner.
- Due to overwhelming shelter needs, lack of security of tenure and severe underfunding, the shelter and NFI needs of the displaced people are largely unmet.
