Earthquake Response: The three-month system wide scale-up activated to respond to the emergency needs resulting from earthquake ended mid-May. During this period shelter sector partners across Whole of Syria provided assistance to 0.3M individuals with installation of emergency tents, adaptation of collective centres, support local authorities with provision of items/equipment for debris removal and undertake rapid structural assessments. NFI sector partners provided emergency NFIs to 1.1M individuals displaced to collective centres and hosting arrangements.

March 2023
Humanitarian Response Plan [HRP] 2023: For 2023 HRP response 87 SNFI projects were approved from 78 appealing organisations. Shelter and NFI partners requested USD 212M and USD 308M to implement life-saving and life sustaining Shelter and NFI assistance to 1.4M and 2.4M respectively.

December 2022
Humanitarian Needs Overview [2023]: Based on the outcomes of the MSNA [Multi-Sector Needs Analysis], the WoS SNFI sectors developed the HNO [Humanitarian Needs Overview] which was issued in December. The HNO 2023, indicates that 15.3M people are estimated to be in need of humanitarian assistance, with 5.6M/5.7M people requiring shelter and NFI assistance respectively across Syria.
Cross-line NFI Assistance: The SNFI sector coordinated with UNHCR to deliver NFI assistance to 12,130 individuals to Northwest Syria under the umbrella of the Security Council Resolution 2642.

Winter PDM: Results from the winter PDM for the 2021-22 response were published, notable findings include; perceived increase in intensity of winter conditions, access constraints, item price fluctuations.
ISG coordination retreat: A two-day ISG coordination retreat was held in May, where constructive discussions were held on (amongst other things) ways to further improve WoS coordination mechanisms and formulation of ISG work-planning for 2022.

Winter emergency: SNFI partners responded to the critical needs of the people affected by severe snowstorms in January and February, by providing life-saving shelter and NFI assistance.
HRP 2022-23: The SNFI sector approved 79 projects with a combined funding request of USD534 million for the first year of the multi-year Syria HRP 2022-23.

Approvals for shelter projects and lift of the Covid-19 lockdown led to an increase in repair of damaged houses and public buildings/infrastructure across Syria.
