Since May 2022, heavy monsoon rains and water from upstream in India's northeast have inundated large parts of the Sylhet division in Bangladesh and leaving millions of people marooned and triggering a humanitarian crisis. There was no forecast for this flash flood, so the local people could not make any preparations. It’s caused the sever damages of every aspect of human life. According to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center (FFWC), around 94 percent of Sunamganj and over 84% of Sylhet districts were submerged by this flood.

Since May 2022, heavy monsoon rains and water from upstream in India's northeast have inundated large parts of the Sylhet division in Bangladesh and leaving millions of people marooned and triggering a humanitarian crisis.
The flash floods swept away homes and inundated farmlands, forcing families to seek shelter on higher ground and temporary flood shelters, while power cuts is making life miserable. Experts considered the flood worse than the ones they had experienced in 1998 and 2004.
