Description

The humanitarian crisis in Burkina Faso is very dynamic. Displacement is continuous with most households forced to move multiple times. This document shows how the Cluster tries to track, in a cumulative manner, the Emergency Response provided by its partners to the IDPs who have been displaced in 2023. In it you will find the following:

The key figures.
1. The response coverage in the communes for the shelter and NFI response. Emphasis is placed on communes that have received new IDPs in 2023, and no emergency shelter or core relief item response has been provided. The coverage at the regional level is presented in terms of percentages.
2. The weak emergency shelter response as compared to the NFI response. More needs to be done for the "emergency shelter" response. Protection monitoring reports show that over 50% of host community households have the capacity to lodge new arrivals. Nevertheless, their capacity is dwindling due to the structural consequences of the conflict on the country's economy.
3. A table showing the number of emergency shelters and NFI kits needed to respond to the urgent needs of the newly displaced persons. 93% of estimated shelter needs have not been covered as compared to 94% last month. 86% of NFI needs are unmet as compared to 83% last month.

N.B: The number of displacements is being tracked and this should not be confused with the official statistics of the number of internally displaced persons in Burkina Faso. The official statistics are published by CONASUR: Tableau de bord général sur l'enregistrement des PDI au BF au 31 mars 2023.pdf - Google Drive
