The GSC WG on Construction Standards updated on the progress achieved.

Key takeaways from the session:

• Construction Good Practice Standards WG has developed, and is in process of updating, a set of standards to guide safe programming for quality construction where safety and accountability underpin all activities. This is meant to guide all agencies to achieve strategic implementation with predictable activities at all stages of the project life cycle. 
• There has been progress in the use and implementation of the standards by a number of agencies within the internal guidance, and through donor endorsement. 
• Save the Children presented their case study of the rollout of standards to operationalise the standards across all SCI country offices, including examples of tools that have been developed and challenges encountered. 
• Next steps will be to finalise the revised document through peer review and the associated mobile-module training with DIsaster Ready, and seek donor endorsement of the standards to ensure top-down recognition and embedding of the Construction Good Practice Standards.
