Ignite Panel: Shelter and Settlements in a Changing Environment

Date

Description

The Ignite Talk Panel session tackeled the overarching theme for this year’s GSC Meeting: Shelter and Settlements in a Changing EnvironmentThe aim is to share ideas on how the shelter and settlements sector needs to adapt to a changing humanitarian landscape, where the climate and environmental crisis, rapid urbanization, the role of local actors, and evolving migration patterns become defining features of the international humanitarian response. This changing humanitarian landscape not only brings about challenges, but it also offers opportunities for the shelter and settlements sector to more effectively meet the needs of the population affected by humanitarian crises. For this to happen, it is critical that humanitarian shelter actors identify and adapt to the evolving factors driving humanitarian crises and response.
