AFG ES-NFI Regional Report December-2024
From January to December 2024, ES/NFI partners provided critical shelter and non-food item (NFI) assistance to over 1.1 million people, achieving 66% of the annual target. However, funding shortfalls left $146 million (68%) of the required budget unmet, limiting the response to growing needs caused by sudden crises like flash floods.
By December 2024, 271,000 individuals (60%) had received winterization support, including heating fuel, winter clothing, and blankets. Despite these efforts, over 892,000 people in high-priority districts remain at risk due to funding gaps. The Cluster also supported 32,706 women-headed households, addressing vulnerabilities in the most affected communities.
Key challenges included underfunding, access restrictions, and capacity gaps, which hindered timely response efforts. The report highlights ongoing needs, gaps, and recommendations for improving humanitarian aid effectiveness in Afghanistan.
