ESFI afg regional report October 2024
The ESNFI Cluster, in collaboration with over 27 partners, provided critical emergency shelter and non-food item (NFI) assistance to thousands of individuals affected by natural disasters across Afghanistan from January to October 2024. Despite these efforts, challenges such as funding shortages, restrictions on female staff, and bureaucratic delays hindered the delivery of aid, leaving over 600,000 individuals without essential winter support.
Key achievements included:
- Emergency shelter and household item distribution for thousands of individuals.
- Transitional shelters and repair support for disaster-affected families.
- Winterization assistance targeting high-priority districts.
However, a funding gap of $34 million remains critical to addressing winterization needs for vulnerable populations. Immediate action is required to prevent severe risks during the upcoming winter.
