December 2023

Tropical Cyclone Tej hit Hadramawt, Al Mahrah, and Socotra Island governorates in October 2023, impacting over 18,000 households. In response, Shelter Cluster partners delivered Non-Food Items (NFI) kits to more than 4,600 households and emergency shelters to approximately 550 households.

June 2023

Heavy rainfall has been impacting Yemen, causing floods and flash floods mainly in Hajjah, Marib and Al Hudaydah governrates.. As of end of June, more than 44,000 HHs were affected according to the Shelter Cluster Flood Tracking System of which 31,700 HHs were verified. Assessment continues.

March 2023

Rainy season has started in Yemen resulting to flooding, which has so far impacted 8,000 IDP and host families mainly in IDP sites. Flooding caused  displacements, damage to properties and public infrastructure, as well as the loss of crops and livestocks.
The Cluster was allocated $1.35 million through the Yemen Humanitarain Fund (YHF) to support its Flood Preparedness and Response against its $26 Million requirements.

December 2022

YSC section in the Humanitarian Response Plan 2023 estimated an overall target of 3.3 million vulnerable people with a total financial requirement of $250 million.
During the fourth quarter of 2022, Shelter Cluster assisted 1,539,121 IDPs, returnees, and vulnerable host community members.
YSC received $3.6 million from the 3rd Reserve Allocation 2022 of the Yemen Humanitarian Fund to replenish the sector common pipeline, provide shelter maintenance and updates, flood mitigation solutions and advance durable shelter solutions.

September 2022

Torrential rainfall and flooding affected more than 517,000 people. 
Harsh winter temperatures threaten the lives and well-being of 134,000 displaced families.
YSC assisted 329,665 IDPs, returnees, and vulnerable host community members in Q3. 
YSC Mid-year report was released.
The Shelter Cluster Strategy & Capacity Development Strategy for 2022-2024 has been finalized. 
YSC developed a Shelter Profile for Yemen with the support of CRAterre University.
CCPM action plan review session was organized.

June 2022

The Shelter Cluster, through 28 humanitarian organizations, continued to deliver aid to 219,603 people assisted in the second quarter.

Heavy rainfall continues to cause flooding, which affects over 3,982 families up to the end of June.

UN Envoy to Yemen announced an additional two-month renewable truce starting 2 June 2022.

165,494 Yemenis were displaced due to armed conflict or climate change disasters in the first quarter.

The Shelter Cluster, through 25 humanitarian organizations, continued to deliver aid to 190,000 people assisted in the first quarter.

A third Shelter Solutions Exhibitions was launched in Aden with 8 shelter prototypes were presented.

The Special Envoy for UNHCR, Angelina Jolie visited Yemen in March to draw attention to the devastating consequences of the seven-year-old conflict on the civilian population.

December 2021

This year, nearly half million Yemenis were displaced and 337,000 people were affected by flooding.

Shelter Cluster agreed to proceed with an HNO analysis of existing data sources due to delay in MCLA.

1.8 million IDPs, returnees, and host community members were reached by the Shelter Cluster programmes in 2021 through 44 humanitarian organizations.

Shelter Solutions Exhibitions were launched in Sana'a and Marib and the third exhibition is under preparation in Aden.
