The Core Pipeline is a centrally managed supplies mechanism, which is a key lifesaving response modality that serves to support South Sudan’s S-NFI and WASH Cluster partners in implementing timely and effective SNFI and WASH interventions, responding to critical humanitarian needs, assuring harmonization of items, cost efficiency due to economies of scale, and enables timely, effective and coordinated responses across the country. Given the logistically challenging environment in South Sudan due to flooding and insecurity which often renders most key locations inaccessible by road  for most part of the year and delays in global procurement  and shipping of up to six months before supplies are received in – country, the Core Pipeline requires early funding in order to ensure sustained availability of core items of emergencies requiring rapid response.
