Description

The humanitarian crisis in Tigray remains severe, with 760,406 internally displaced persons (IDPs) facing worsening conditions due to resource shortages and overcrowding. Many IDPs are being forced from rental homes into overcrowded collective centers, including schools, as they can no longer afford rent. The Northwestern and Central Zones together account for nearly 506,000 displaced individuals, yet shelter capacity is critically inadequate. While some progress has been made with relocations, 92 schools still serve as shelters, disrupting education for thousands of children and straining relationships between IDPs and host communities due to interruptions in essential services.
