This case study is the first in a series of case studies on Green Shelter Innovations and Interventions being produced by the Global Shelter Cluster, with support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). It documents an innovation by NGO Geres in Afghanistan to promote solar-based, energy-efficient housing that reduces fuel use, curbs deforestation, lowers emissions, and improves health.
