WB HUMANITARIAN OVERVIEW

Following October 7th, the situation in the West Bank and East Jerusalem deteriorated with extra shelter demolition, military operations, and home destruction and damage, particularly in northern refugee camps in Jenin and Tulkarem.  In addition to settler violence throughout many areas, primarily Palestinian communities in Area C, hundreds of Palestinian families have been forcibly displaced due to policies and practices implemented by Israeli authorities and settlers. In total, almost 4,000 Palestinians were displaced in 2023, which is the highest known statistic for a single year (1,023 displaced in 2022, 1,209 displaced in 2021).  Access restrictions, limiting livelihood opportunities, and creating a coercive environment continue to impose extra strain on Palestinian communities to leave Area C as witnessed in many areas east of Ramallah, south of Hebron and Nablus.
