Useful links for Cooking Energy Programme Implementation for Shelter Cluster Partners
Useful Resources on Energy
In line with recent discussions in the NFI WG on energy, some useful links have been added to the Global Shelter Cluster NFI WG as resources in your energy programming. These resources include the following:
- The GIZ HERA Cooking Energy Compendium, which is a useful guidebook for cooking energy program implementation.
- The Sustainable Energy in Humanitarian Settings Webinar Series, which has some really useful information sharing and sessions on cooking energy and lighting programs described by type of context.
- The WFP Handbook on Safe Access to Firewood and Alternative Energy-This manual provides some useful insights on how to engage in multi-sectoral coordination and conduct assessments on fuel. Shelter Cluster does indeed have a role to play on how we design interventions. Some snippits in the images session.
What is missing from these resources is a look at an element of energy is the aspect of winterization and summerization where energy becomes crucial, though it does cover critical aspects of cooking interventions which are useful for camp settings. There are also some useful insights from these resources for settlement planning and certainly the webinar series is a worth a lesson to learn from practitioners in the field.
