Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, struck western Jamaica on October 28, causing catastrophic damage to homes and infrastructure. Over 120,000 structures were affected, and families are in need of inmediate live saving shelter interventions.
This page serves as the central hub for coordination, resources, and updates related to the Shelter Sector’s response to Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
Objectives
- Facilitate information sharing among humanitarian actors, government counterparts, and technical partners.
- Provide strategic guidance on emergency shelter interventions, transitional solutions, and durable housing options.
- Support coordination of activities, including NFI distribution, debris removal, and shelter repairs.
