Description

Last year’s devastating floods affected over 10 million people across 14 countries, displacing more than 1.3 million individuals and damaging over 680,000 homes. The humanitarian community faced constraints including limited funding, access restrictions, and coordination gaps, yet clusters made notable strides in preparedness and early action for the current rainy season. The Shelter Cluster session on Flood Preparedness Initiatives was held on 28 May 2025, with valuable participation and insights from five country clusters — Bangladesh, Madagascar, Pakistan, South Sudan, and Yemen — sharing their concrete experiences, lessons learned, and ongoing efforts despite significant challenges.
