Strengthening participation, representation and leadership of local and national actors in IASC humanitarian coordination
We are pleased to share with you the endorsed IASC guidance on Strengthening Participation, Representation and Leadership of Local and National Actors in IASC Humanitarian Coordination Mechanisms, developed by Results Group (RG) 1 on Operational Response.
This Guidance aims to support efforts to strengthen the meaningful participation, representation, and leadership of local and national humanitarian actors (L/NAs) within IASC humanitarian coordination structures. It draws on over 100 pieces of research and good practice to provide recommendations on how L/NAs can be an integral part of humanitarian coordination structures.
We thank all IASC RG1 and OPAG members for their valuable feedback and support throughout the development of this guidance. A special thanks to local NGO consortia that engaged in the process and to UNHCR, Somali NGO consortium, ICVA and OCHA who have spearheaded this work through RG1’s sub-group on localization and consulted widely to capture feedback from the IASC members.
