Shelter Cash and Markets Community of Practice
Cash and Shelter Training Materials
Dear Shelter Cluster Shelter-Cash-Markets Subscribers,
In 2018, with funding from ECHO to the Global Shelter Cluster, Save the Children developed materials to be used in improving the capacity of shelter practitioners to implement shelter programming with a cash and markets components.
The materials are now published on our CoP page.
We would like to invite you to review the documents and also to consider whether you would use this in designing a training within your Shelter Cluster. Please feel free to respond to this thread to let us know:
- What do you think?
- What can be improved?
- Did you use the materials in a training? How did it go?
- Would you be willing to support delivering this training within your cluster?
The materials include the following documents to be downloaded as zip files:
Lots of good material here, I appreciate I have only had a reletively quick look, but I wanted to understand who the audience is for this training package. To me it comes across more as training for shelter cluster coordinators rather than training for operational shelter practitioners wanting to use CVA for shelter outcomes, but perhaps I am not fully understanding the intention?
Also what was the background to focus on CVA rather starting at the broader MBP would anyone know?
Hi -- I was the main draft author, but my memory is sometimes a bit hazy, after so long! But, my recollection is that yes indeed, the focus was for Shelter Cluster coordination teams. The feeling was that there were already a lot of resouces out there concerning the basics of actually programme implementation, so no need to re-hash those, but that there was a genuine gap in the guidance for the cluster coordination with regards to the topic. This being a package developed under a GSC project umbrella, after all.
Hi all, Ive just been looking at the training materials, in light of having this week delivered our in house CVA pilot training. Luckily, there are some great broad crossovers!! Id be keen to see if there are any plans to deliver a pilot on this, as I think it could be very instructive in aligning operational and coordination activities.
For the relative focus (CVA, MBP, etc) some of the sessions, (such as Session 4 in the 5-day plan, but somehow within a set of Ppt slides called 'Session 2' in the pack...), are more focussed on wider market assessments. There's also some material in Session 1 about integrating CVA into needs assessments more generally. But I think that in order to have something more significant on MBP, there would need to be at least an extra day added to the course. (As an aside, I also think that we are still missing a lot of necessary guidance on EMMA for the Shelter sector, as well...)
