Highlights

Tartous & Lattakia:

• According to Al-Batoul [a local NGO], 26 families have reportedly moved to Tartous from Aleppo, Hama and Lattakia and are residing in hosting arrangement. To date, it is estimated that 2,460 families displaced due to EQ are residing in Tartous and Lattakia, in hosting arrangements.

Aleppo:

• More than 18,0002 buildings have been assessed as part of the Rapid Structural Assessment. Preliminary analysis indicates that 10,702 are classified as green [no structural damage], 3,602 as yellow [need minor structural repair] and 1,568 as red [severe structural damage].

Response

Tartous & Lattakia:

• According to Al-Batoul [a local NGO], 26 families have reportedly moved to Tartous from Aleppo, Hama and Lattakia and are residing in hosting arrangement. To date, it is estimated that 2,460 families displaced due to EQ are residing in Tartous and Lattakia, in hosting arrangements.

• As of March 16th, 261 Collective Centres (CCs) are operational in Lattakia Governorate, of which adaption works are completed in 9, ongoing in 5, with works scheduled to commence in 4 facilities. Partners may refer to the sub-national level CCs mapping tool for more information.

• Local authorities continue to state plans to rationalise the 26 CCs into 7 [4 in Lattakia city and 3 rural]. A nine-story building was identified as a potential C.C; PUI and UNHCR are doing a feasibility study on rehabilitating the first 3 floors to accommodate 63 displaced families.

• Families who fail to produce attestation documents from municipality or mukhtar are reportedly being evicted from Sports City collective centre in Lattakia. • UNHCR has produced and held meetings with Syria Trust to discuss draft ToRs for the management of CCs.

• As of March 16th, NFI sector partners3 (AAKH, NRC, SIF, UNHCR and UNRWA) were able to reach 3,983 families [19,365 indv.] in Lattakia and 1,607 families [5,204 indv.] in Tartous with various NFIs.

Aleppo:

• More than 18,0002 buildings have been assessed as part of the Rapid Structural Assessment. Preliminary analysis indicates that 10,702 are classified as green [no structural damage], 3,602 as yellow [need minor structural repair] and 1,568 as red [severe structural damage].

• Local authorities plan to rationalise the current 100 CCs into 30.

• Authorities also plan to establish prefabricated housing units in Aleppo city, Jebrin, and Hanano.

• Shelter sector is facilitating the design of a training module aimed at building capacity of NNGOs identified to manage C.Cs. The module focusses on identifying shelter and protection needs and referral to the right actor.

• As of 16th March, NFI partners3 (ACT/FCA, ACF, AKAH, MEDAIR, NRC, SIF, EPDC, UNHCR, UNRWA, GVC and ZOA) distributed 356,604 various items to support more than 51,457 families in different collective centres and in hosting arrangements.

Homs/ Hama:

• As of March 16th, 855 families in Homs were assisted with emergency NFIs, by sector partners3 including NRC and UNHCR. General:

• EQ response has depleted the Contingency Stock of NFI sector partners. No Contingency Stocks is available for to meet any sudden shocks/emergencies in the future
