The July 2025 Greener Shelter Consultation Report presents the outcomes of a collaborative process led by the Greener Shelter Technical Sub-Community of Practice within the Global Shelter Cluster. It proposes a comprehensive definition of Greener Shelter that integrates sustainability, climate resilience, lifecycle thinking, and human dignity. 

The report outlines five core pillars: reducing environmental impacts, embracing sustainable design, applying lifecycle and systems thinking, centering human needs, and investing in climate adaptation and disaster risk reduction. 

It also highlights priority topics identified through community engagement, including renewable energy, circular construction, nature-based solutions, and climate mitigation. 

Key expectations from the community include enhanced knowledge sharing, technical guidance, advocacy, and cross-sector collaboration to advance greener shelter practices globally.
