Updates from Partners

  • Partners wanted to report interest in the Refugee Response. The Shelter Cluster coordinator clarified that UNHCR is currently coordinating that crisis and that it was outside of the scope of the clusters for the moment which would remain focused on responding to the needs created by the internal displacement crisis as outlined in the Shelter Cluster strategy. Given that some partners have been doing assessment in Ako, they have noticed an increase in returnees to that area with lots of shelter needs as they have returned to find damaged houses.
  • Caritas in the NW has been finalizing beneficiary registration during the month of June. Distributions of NFI began in Mezam, Boyo, and Menchum. Caritas in the Southwest has begun distributions in Fako division for 500 households in Naangi and Naangi and Mekongi communities, while on Friday Caritas is distributing shelter kits to 100 households and NFIs to 400 households.
  • CEREDRUP primarily focuses on Housing, Land, and Property rights which has enabled them to see many households in need of shelter support. They decided to support 3 households with 3-month cash for rent in Naanga, Fiango, and Tiko communities.
  • CRS Updates distributed e- voucher cards to ACER III project participants in all 24 project communities. They sensitized project participants on rights, vendor locations and list of eligible items for purchase. The NFI top up for ACER III will take place before the end of July and will be submitted via the 5W tool for July.
  • IRC conducted NFI distributions in-kind for persons recently displaced persons (in 2022) Meme and Fako Divisions.
  • NRC conducted a rental market assessment during the month of June and a score card is being draft in order to proceed with beneficiary selection for their pilot rental program. NRC finalized the selection of vendors for their voucher for shelter program in Meme and Mezam. NRC is going to work with vendors through a voucher for shelter program so that beneficiaries can access roofing sheets, windows, and doors in for distribution in Donga Mantung Division. NRC is monitoring new displacements so that they can respond with NFI assistance.
  • SHUMAS continued to provide rental accommodation for IDP students in Bamendekwne and Nkwen.
