Action Points from the Meeting

  • The next National Shelter Sector Meeting will be held on the 26th of July and focus on the issue of Accountability to Affected Populations and Post Distribution Monitoring. Please let Reneé know if you would like to volunteer to present from the NWSW at this meeting. 
  • Shelter Cluster partners to remember to encourage their National NGO sub-contracted partners to participate in Shelter Cluster meetings.
  • NRC will develop a lessons learned document on the repairs project based on the post distribution monitoring exercise which is ongoing.
  • Shelter Cluster partners to get in touch with the Cluster team to either share your feedback on the Shelter Cluster Strategy bilaterally or to make comments on the strategy so that a next revision can be done. 
  • Partners to share price monitoring data and also to continue sharing data, photos, or other messages as all inputs support in making the Shelter Cluster functional and making the services available to all. 
  • The use of the shelter kit and the importance of technical assistance in shelter actions: Shelter Cluster to follow up with concerned agencies and also to start working on a paper that improves advocacy to donors on better shelter solutions for the different shelter needs scenarios that are present in the Northwest and Southwest crisis. 
  • IRC NW and SW to share the planned list of communities where they are planning distributions in advance of the distribution to ensure coordination with other actors. 
  • Shelter Cluster team to share updates on when the workshops on contingency planning will be held (July or August). 
  • Shelter Cluster team to share with REWAC the needs assessment form for helping them in planning their upcoming interventions. 
  • REWAC to consider cash based interventions for provision of clothing as often that helps families having the appropriate sizes and comfortability of the items. 
  • Shelter Cluster partners to ensure they fill out the 5W as soon as interventions takes place (AWA and NRC (mattresses in Buea) were reminded to take actions in this regard) and not wait until the reminder comes from the Cluster team. 
  • Shelter Cluster partners to ensure that their photos focus on the objective of the assistance and not only on agency logos. 
  • Shelter Cluster team to complete severity analysis of existing shared household data and see if there is a way to compare the new household data collected with baseline data collected from Plan International in 2021. 
  • Shelter Cluster partners to experiment with the interactive 5W dashboard to become more familiar with how to use it in analysis. Ask the Cluster team for support if you are having difficulties. 

Updates from Cluster Partners

  • AWA completed a distribution of clothes in the month of June. The data should be updated to the 5W. 
  • REWAC is in the planning phases of their NFI support. 
  • CRS has distributed cards to beneficiaries who will start to receive the top-up amount for NFIs for voucher in the month of July. 
  • IRC is still selecting locatoins. They are looking to work in Bali area and several villages in Momo. In the Southwest, IRC's distributions will be informed on referrals they may receive from partners. 
  • NRC is conducting a training of profilers in Bamenda 2 for Cash for Rent. They also training their partners, SIRDEP and CBC, on light and medium repair approaches. NRC in the Southwest is planning to conduct a NFI distribution in Konye Subdivision for 300 households. NRC also recently completed the distribution of the remaining 42 mattresses in Buea Town and Bova (to be updated in the 5W). In July, they will begin supporting beneficiaires with cash for rent in Indenau. 
  • DRC has completed its cost extension for the ECHO funded project and reached 556 households with NFIs and 32 households with emergency shelter kits in Ikilwindi in Konye Subdivision. No further activities are planned for the moment. 
  • Intersos is supporting UNHCR in assessing households to inform their cash for repairs, cash for rent, and cash for NFI project. Household data collection will increase in the next two months. 
  • IOM is still in the procurement phase of articles for upcoming distributions.
