1st June Northwest Southwest Shelter Cluster Meeting

Summary Action Points of the Meeting

  • Shelter Cluster partners to submit their 5W reports covering the month of May by Wednesday the 8th of June. This month, the Shelter Cluster will also analyse together with OCHA as facilitator of the intercluster the impact that the week-long lockdown had on the implementation of the humanitarian response in the month of May.
  • Shelter Cluster partners are also encouraged to submit inputs to the Assessment Tracker. FGI requested a bilateral meeting with the coordination team to become more familiar with the use of the tool.
  • Partners are encouraged to submit their photos to the Photo Collection Tool. Many thanks to NRC for the submission of the photos to the Photo Collection Tool. While NRC selected to highlight their activities in the field, the photo collection tool also enables partners to take photos of different shelter types and needs. The photo collectoin tool can also be a way of indicating the outcome of partner activities thereby enabling a better explanation of the shelter response to various stakeholders.
  • Partners are encouraged to provide their final comments to the Shelter Cluster Strategy. Many thanks to CRS for providing their comments. The comments are addressed and the modifications will be circulated with the circulation of these minutes.
  • Shelter Cluster coordinator to circulate the presentation on the National Shelter Cluster SAG discussion on minimum expenditure basket. Partners to provide comments and inputs to what should be the Shelter/NFI proportion of the MEB.
  • The contact for the Cash Working Group for the Northwest and Southwest is maxime.boyabobouvourne@crs.org. Partners who would like to participate in the CWG discussions should contact him.
  • Shelter Cluster Coordinator will confirm the dates of the Shelter Cluster workshop on analysis tools expected to be the 21st and 22nd of June in Bamenda and the 24th and 25th June in Buea.
  • Shelter Cluster to follow up with CRS and NRC to organize the dates and review the materials for the Shelter Cluster training on cash interventions. This element will be added to the Strategy.
  • Shelter Cluster to follow up with GBV AoR and the relevant Cluster partners who participated in the trainings on GBV referral pathways.
  • With many thanks to IRC for sharing their PDM and for presenting the findings, other partrners who would like to present their assessment findings and share them with the Cluster via the website should contact the coordinator.
  • NRC to share the draft rental market assessment with the Shelter Cluster prior to beginning data collection.

Updates from Partners

  • CRS have concluded the validation and verification of the registration of beneficiaries for their locations, so they will share with the Shelter Cluster the number of beneficiaries in the locations where they are working. CRS is training 50 vendors across the 5 subdivisions where they are working and later in June or July the distributions to beneficiaries.
  • NRC distributed 250 kits in Ndu subdivision. NRC is doing a rental market assessment in Bamenda 1, Bamenda 2, and in the Southwest.
  • IOM anticipates starting their RRM project before the end of July.
  • IRC identified 13 households in Kone Subdivision in Meme whose homes were burnt and IRC will distribute to them NFI kits. An additional 50 households were profiled.

DRC and Cartias were not able to participate in the meeting, but they sent the following updates following the meeting:

  • DRC did not conduct any distributions in May and has been undergoing preparation stages for the next phase of their project.
