3rd February 2023 NWSW Cameroon Shelter Cluster Meeting

Action Points from the Meeting

  • Shelter Cluster to publish a one pager on the overall tools that it has in place with the program cycle. 
  • Shelter Cluster to host several refresher sessions such as on the 5W Dashboard, technical guidelines, and other items that require more time. 
  • Shelter Cluster Partners to report their planned and finalized activities to the 5W by the 8th of February. 
  • Shelter Cluster Partners to circulate the XLS of the Post Distribution Monitoring Form and to sensitize their M&E staff on the inclusion of some of the outcome questions into agency-specific forms and share the results with the Shelter Cluster. 
  • Shelter Cluster to include transfer value and cost of in-kind items in the 5W.
  • Shelter Cluster partners to include sub-partners in the 5W to give greater visibility to national NGOs.

  • Shelter Cluster to confirm the dates for the workshops of greening the response.

  • Shelter Cluster and WASH Cluster to hold joint meeting to advance on a joint framework between the two clusters.

Updates from Partners

  • COHESODEC is doing evaluation of burnt shelters while they are awaiting funding.
  • H4BF has identified beneficiaries and provided kits in the last month and they will update it in the 5W. 
  • AWA is doing a household needs asesssment in the remote area of Njikwa- Shelter Cluster to share the tool. 
  • CRS has completed ACER III with the bulk distributions. There are a few cases that will receive top-ups. CRS to report on the number of individuals reached. CRS is looking forward to a new proposal that will begin in April, where they will expand to new subdivisions: Belo in Boyo, Oku in Bui, and Balikumbat in Ngo-Ketunjia. 
  • SHUMAS is rounding up with some distributions with NFI kits in the Northwest with IOM. IOM will report this to the 5W. 
  • SIRDEP will be doing distributions of NFIs for 250 households in Wum with NRC during February and March. Ensure coordination with Caritas, UNHCR, and SHUMAS to ensure that there is no duplication with last year's distributions.
  • NRC will do cash for rent, light/medium repairs, and distributions. Bui, Menchum, Boyo, and Ngo-Kentunjia are targeted for this year. Ensure coordination with CRS on distributions. 
  • Cameroon Student Corps wants to support IDP students with NFIs and rental assistance in Tombe and in Buea. To be put in contact with SHUMAS to learn from their experience in the NW.
  • DRC completed distribution of Shelter and NFI items using vouchers in two communities in Tiko. - DRC plans to conduct distributions in Kumba 3. DRC to ensure that they are reporting planned communities from planned. Ensure coordination with UNHCR and NRC to avoid duplications.
  • IOM is implementing the Rapid Response Mechanism which is mainly distribution of emergency kits to newly displaced people. Over 281 households received kits in the Ako Subdivision in Donga Mantung, Kumba, Noni, and Oku Subdivision in Bui Division Northwest Region and over 200 households primarily in Meme Division in Manyu subdivsion. Plan to distribute some kits in Akwaya in the month of February, and that should be updated in the 5W. 
  • CAMHELP is currently constructing a shelter of two stories with 16 rooms for IDPs for orphans and unaccompanied children. 100 IDPs will benefit from this program: 50 UAC and orphans, and 50 other vulnerable children from the host community. There is an education component for the children. CAMHELP distributed NFIs and hygiene kits in Menchum. 
  • FGI is planning on multisectoral needs assessment in Menoua Division of the West Region. Make sure to share the results. 
  • UNHCR conducted post distribution monitoring of its cash for shelter beneficiaries.
