Access to Widikum and possibilities on the distribution of NFIs

Distribution has been done even though SHUMAS faced some challenges and OCHA helped with the negotiations. The issue here is the D.O. wanted the distribution to be done at his premises but OCHA helped with negotiations and the distribution was done at the presbyterian church.

Organized a capacity building sessions on shelter cluster tools.

This is in the pipeline and will be organized in May everything being equal.

Joint market assessment to be held in March.

The shelter cluster is interested to carry out this assessment through the cash working group (CWG) as this will reduce the cost as the CWG has initiated one market assessment with the objectives of the Shelter cluster in it.

Call on all partners doing cash-based Intervention to joint this assessment.

Quarter impact evaluation of shelter/ NFI project by the partners

IOM/SHUMAS

IOM has completed funds from Japan 3 with the distributions from SHUMAS in Widikum and this will be updated in the 5 W. and starting with Japan 4. We are beginning with CERF.  IOM will carry out need assessment for rents to 100 households in Manyu.

Shelter cluster is doing great as we started from nowhere, but we are somewhere today but needs just minor improvements. Partner with donors should be put together to ease reporting. 

Herman has always had a problem with the CWG as sectorial assessments are being done differently especially rental markets are being done differently from NFIs and Food items not withstanding its important for Shelter cluster to do things separately as they will not be able to cover the shelter markets.

UNHCR has developed a separate term of reference capturing the objectives of the shelter cluster.  The assessments tools from the shelter cluster website that will be used for the assessments has been shared with the CWG.  

Updates from SHUMAS. Rental assistance to 32 IDP students in mile 6 Nkwen. It’s a continuous assistance for 1 year.

INTERSOS

Ongoing with data collection in the Northwest in Mezam, Menchum, Ndonga-Mantung and for this trimester from April to June the INTERSOS team will focus in Mezam in Santa and Bambui where at least 800 HH will be profiled for assistance. For the Southwest, data collection is ongoing in all our areas of implementation, but the focus will be in Fako division in Muyuka, Tiko, Mutenegene and Motobolobo and Manyu we will be in Mamfe town, Okonyon and Bachontia where at least 1350 HH will be profiled for assistance.

RAGJ is call upon to carry out data collection and refer to UNHCR for assistance but are yet to do so as UNHCR has planned for training net week Wednesday that will capacitate the team to be able to carry out good shelter/NFI assessments and referral to UNHCR. the case load for tis trimestral will be 500 HH.

 As for the evaluation of the shelter coordination team, they have been so good making cluster partners to fall back on the objectives of the cluster and the Shelter NFI sector. We still call on the team to conduct more training on the available tools present at the website to make the partners to be on the same level of understanding regarding the terminologies.

The co-lead advice that partners should respect shelter cluster guidelines in carrying out implementation especially for cash for repairs and coordination with other partners should be done by consulting the dash boards before carrying out profiling for assistance. Given that the funding situation is bad we must do all to avoid duplications.

NRC is planning to do a distribution of 500 NFI kits in Menchum in Benakuma, Bonede and Befang.

Also, intent to pilot Cash for rents to 60 HH in Wum under the CIDA fuds. The rental amount is as of the shelter cluster guidelines and some NFI distributions will take place in Manyu. The precise information will be communicated on the dashboard.

Shelter cluster have been very supportive with updated information on the dashboards. Even though we have funding limitations to implement projects the partners are still faithful and keeps attending meetings. The cluster is the helpful as it provides useful information for project proposals and updated tools in the platform. For the first quarter of the year, it’s on a good footing but the cluster needs to do more to influence funding in the sector.

Shelter cluster should help the partners to form a consortium and do project proposals together.

Updates on the 5W dashboards form Information management from January to March (first quarter of the year).

Updates on the Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT). This is a report shared by OCHA and just to know partners who are ready, able to response in the areas that are in need, and this should be coordinated.

Thank the shelter cluster partners as my contract is coming to an end this April. I really appreciate all your collaboration with the shelter and its coordination team.  I leave Mildred and Lawrence our shelter focal points and Hermann the co-lead to continue the coordination until the new appointment for my replacement.
