Shelter Cluster Meeting Minutes 18/08/2023

Action points from the Meeting

  • Shelter Cluster Strategy: The new and updated shelter cluster strategy was completed and has been uploaded online. Partners can still, after going through the document, provide feedback to the shelter cluster team. Also, partners are encouraged to get to persons in charge of providing updates to such documents in their organizations.
  • Price monitoring: So far, no partner has provided any updates, and the last price monitoring document is dated as at 1 year ago. Partners who have done or plan to carry out any price monitoring activity in relation to shelter and NFI should do well to update the shelter cluster team so the technical guidelines can be updated.  
  • Lessons learnt: NRC to share lessons learnt on the repairs project during the next shelter cluster meeting.  
  • Shelter Cluster Meetings: INGOs and UN agencies are encouraged to ensure that their implementing partners (National NGO Sub-contracted partners) to attend the shelter cluster meetings.
  • Contingency Plan: Organizations are advised to go through the contingency plan document, familiarize with the content and any comments or feedback can be addressed to the shelter cluster team.
  •  Partners should get acquainted with the dashboard and the 1 pager document that contains all the links to the Shelter cluster tools.
  • Training Needs/Capacity building for shelter cluster partners: Partners should, at the level of their organizations, discuss and identify priority training needs in the shelter sector that can be done by the Cluster. Partners have up till August 31st to inform the cluster of possible training and capacity building needs.   

UPDATES FROM CLUSTER PARTNERS

  • DRC: No on-going projects
  • CSC: No on-going projects now.
  • NRC: NRC SW completed the first round of cash for rents for 60HH in Idenua. Each Household received 30,000 XAF as rent per month for a period of 3 months. The new BHA project is set to begin mid-September which will involve the distribution of 1200 NFI kits in the NW-SW. NRC NW is currently carrying out cash for rents activities in Bamenda II for 60 Households with a value of 25000frs per month for a period of 3 months. NRC NW also plans to carry out repairs of the hospital in Ako.   
  • SHUMAS: Continued to provide rental assistance to IDP’s in mile 6 and Bambili. Shumas to share exact number of beneficiaries with the cluster team as there has been some inconsistencies in the 5W shared.
  • IRC: Distributed in kind NFI to 47 households displaced from Big Babanki and Bambui. IRC to update these statistics in the 5W for August and inform the cluster team on the locations for the distribution of the remaining 19 in kind NFI Kits.
  • AWA: AWA was unable to proceed with the planned distribution of clothes last month due to roadblocks in targeted communities. Hence this activity has been pushed to the coming months. Targeted communities include Boyo, Ndop and Big Babanki. AWA to provide information that indicates exactly which community they plan to distribute in.   
  • UNDP: Plans to intervene in Nwa, Wum and Ndu. Currently carrying out a rapid needs assessment in these areas.
  • UNHCR: Plans to distribute core relief Items to 250HH in Bambui, Sisia 1,2 and 3. UNHCR also plans to support at least 200 households with either cash for rents or cash for core relief items from these same communities. UNHCR to work closely with other partners who have already carried out distributions in these areas to avoid duplicating assistance. UNHCR also plans to carry out data collection for Cash for rents and cash for core relief items for 200 households in the West and Littoral.
