UKRAINE: MTOT's Shelter/NFI Sectorial Factsheet No 1 (Jan - Mar 2019)
SUBVENTIONS TO LOCAL ADMINISTRATIONS - On January 24, MTOT announced a call for proposal aimed at supporting regions affected by the armed conflict. The call was addressed to relevant executive bodies of local councils and military-civilian administrations. Proposals - prepared on the basis of a template provided by MTOT - included requests for financial contributions to specific activities and locations and were sent in writing vial email to MTOT, with deadline on April 1. Currently, MTOT is processing the received proposals.
It was in 2017 for the first time, that funds from the state budget on MTOT’s initiative were allocated to support territories affected by the armed conflict in the East of Ukraine. Already in 2018, and again on MTOT’s initiative, the scope of application of the mechanism for the provision of temporary housing to IDPs was extended to the entire territory of Ukraine.
Key dates
In 2017, for the subvention funds, 72 apartments in Mariupol and Pokrovs were purchased, after the distribution of which the temporary housing was provided to 238 IDPs. In 2018, 116 apartments in Mariupol, Rodinske, Zolote, Popasna, VelykaNovosilka, Pokrovsk, Liman and Kryvyi Rih were purchased under this program, which will provide an opportunity for temporary accommodation of at least 400 IDPs.
With the subvention funds in 2017-2018, 18 settlements were provided with 32 sets of equipment for the registration and issuance of a passport of a citizen of Ukraine with a contactless electronic carrier and foreign passport of a citizen of Ukraine, which improved the conditions for the provision of administrative services.
