Overview

The 2022 response focuses primarily on the reconstruction and rehabilitation of homes of households affected by the August 2021 earthquake in the Grand Sud (Grand'Anse, Nippes, and Sud departments) and the displaced impacted by gang violence in Port-au-Prince.

In 2022, the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area has been severely affected by repeated violence, causing numerous population displacements. Humanitarian access to vulnerable populations in gang-controlled areas remains extremely limited. As of 23 November 2022, 155,166 people (39,623 households) were displaced in the ZMPP.

The resurgence of cholera and the increase in displacement requires greater assistance in non-food items as basic necessities (hygiene kits, kitchen kits, water storage containers and blankets).
