Description

An estimated 2.1 million people require shelter assistance, including winter support.
Approximately 1.9 million people live in 1,556 sites, most of which (around 1,400) are unplanned, self-settled IDP sites with restricted access to essential services.
Among these sites, 86% are critically overcrowded.
Women and children represent the majority, 80%, of residents in IDP sites.
The earthquake that hit Syria and Turkey in February 2023 exacerbated the conditions for an already vulnerable population living in overcrowded and inadequate shelters.
Due to funding shortages, 1.16 million people are at risk of not receiving essential life-saving winterization activities.
