Postponed Technical Training of Trainers Doolow on Local Building Culture

As you may be aware, the Shelter Cluster has secured funding through UNHCR and its implementing partner NRC to strengthen the capacity of our partners as trainers on both the concepts of local building culture and the techniques of earth construction. Shelter Cluster has worked in the past with an organization Craterre who will support the cluster in conducting the trainer of trainers in Doolow. The project includes a pre-assessment on Local Building Culture which will help Craterre to adapt the training according to the findings. The objectives of the respective training of trainers is as follows:

  • Training of Trainers (6 days: 26th of November -1st of December): Doolow
    • 20 persons to be trained as trainers on local building culture and techniques on earth construction.
    • Craterre to evaluate all the participants and provide training certificates.
  • It is expected that all selected participants engage to replicate the training for their respective beneficiaries: masons, labourers, daily workers, block makers,…

We are cordially inviting you to apply to the module of trainer of trainers that will be held in Dollow. In order to apply, please provide a duly filled in application form to Padmore Okal okal@unhcr.org by COB Sunday the 6th of November 2016 (see attachment). We have also included the ToR for the training. Please ensure to read the application form in detail. Shelter Cluster will limit the participants to maximum 20 persons and will use the Shelter Cluster Review Committee to select the final list:

  • Shelter projects in key return areas and active shelter projects will be prioritized
  • Shelter Cluster will ensure to keep sufficient space for government counterparts (25%)
  • Shelter Cluster will keep some space for regional shelter cluster coordinators (10%)

The Shelter Cluster will inform the selected candidates by Wednesday the 8th of November in order for them to proceed with arrangements to attend.

Shelter Cluster through the Norwegian Refugee Council will cover the costs of the consultants, lunches, refreshments, print-outs and conference room. Organizations are expected to cover the following costs of their respective participants: accommodation, flight and per diem. The specific location of the training in Dollow will be confirmed in due course.
